DESCRIPTION: Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, "Capitol", 12 size, 21 jewels, stem wind, pendant set, 3 adjustments, fine straight line damascening, nickel plate movement, with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, double roller, whiplash micrometric regulator in a 14 karat, yellow gold with 3 color gold ornament, engraved, hunting case, the back with a buck and leaves, the front with engraved shield and leaves, gold cuvette engraved "F. Berg", monogram on front cover, and Arabic numeral, outer red 5-minute markers, single sunk, white enamel dial, with leather covered jewelers box, marked E.J. Scheer Rochester, N.Y. serial #4011796, 70.4g TW,
CONDITION: CASE: Not original to the movement; Minor dent less than the size of a grain of rice, back and cuvette; Minor fine scratches on outer surface of case; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairline in enamel, light, at 11:00; Fine scratches minor to dial. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Winding wheel has minor spots of oxidation; Gold plated steel has minor oxidation, regulator spring, and a few screws; Case screw replaced; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), needs cleaning. RARITY: Possibly quite rare, as Gilbert, Engle and Shugart's `Complete Price Guide to Watches' does not list the Capitol model in 12 size.
